The first three books of the Tenacious Trents series by Jane Charles, now available in a "box set". Compromised for Christmas Lady Elizabeth craved excitement and adventure. Unwilling to endure further boring Seasons, she convinces her uncle, who has lived a more adventurous life than anyone else she knew, to let her work for him. A few years later, Elizabeth was established in Tuileries Castle, a servant in Napoleon's court known as Lisette Renard. John Phillip Trent has been working in the stables of Tuileries as Jean Pierre Bouvier for the past two years. . . . A Misguided Lord It is time for Clayton Trent, Earl of Bentley, to take a bride. He knows exactly what he needs and the type of lady who should become his Countess. His life is orderly, scandal free, and exactly the way it should be until Miss Eleanor Westin careens into him, upsetting the perfect balance of his world. She is everything his father said he should not marry. Yet, he cannot put her from his mind, not even when a decade old scandal threatens the very foundation of his family. A Perfect Gentleman Matthew Trent always knew what was expected of him and that was to become the perfect vicar and a perfect gentlemen. When Grace Cooper enters his life, he is forced to face what he really wishes to become. Grace Cooper has three options for marriage available to her in the small village where she resides. However, Grace would rather be placed on the shelf than enter into a miserable union. When someone threatens her father and then makes an attempt on her life, it is Vicar Trent who vows to protect her. 1. Language: English. Narrator: Marian Hussey. Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. By his own admission, in earlier life he "had been drawn to three autocracies: German National Socialism, Communism, and the Roman Catholic Church." Burn''s father was secretary and solicitor to the Duchy of Cornwall becoming a trusted confidant of the King, while his mother''s family was instrumental in developing the golf-and-gambling resort of Le Touquet[1]. Initially educated at Winchester College, Burn spent only one year at Oxford before the social seductions of Le Touquet won out. As he himself put it, he was not sent down. Having done none of the work expected of him, he simply did not go back, choosing instead to initiate a writing career by ghosting the autobiography of ''Bentley Boy'' Sir Henry Birkin. Burn spent an amount of time in Florence, befriending Alice Keppel, the former mistress of Edward VII. A bisexual, his lovers included later Soviet Union spy Guy Burgess. On two occasions during the 1930s Burn took himself to the police, as homosexuality was then a crime.

Sometimes referred to as the "Tendring Peninsula", the district was formed on April 1, 1974 as a merger of the borough of Harwich, with Brightlingsea, Clacton and Frinton and Walton urban districts, and Tendring Rural District. The name Tendring comes from the ancient Tendring Hundred which is named after the small Tendring village at the centre of the area. The Tendring Poor Law Union covered the same area as the present district.

When Elizabeth Bentley slunk into an FBI field office in 1945, she was thinking only of saving herself from NKGB assassins who were hot on her trail. She had no idea that she was about to start the greatest Red Scare in U.S. history. Bentley (1908-1963) was a Connecticut Yankee and Vassar graduate who spied for the Soviet Union for seven years. She met with dozens of highly placed American agents who worked for the Soviets, gathering their secrets and stuffing sensitive documents into her knitting bag. But her Soviet spymasters suspected her of disloyalty--and even began plotting to silence her forever. To save her own life, Bentley decided to betray her friends and comrades to the FBI. Her defection effectively shut down Soviet espionage in the United States for years. Despite her crucial role in the cultural and political history of the early Cold War, Bentley has long been overlooked or underestimated by historians. Now, new documents from Russian and American archives make it possible to assess the veracity of her allegations. This long overdue biography rescues Elizabeth Bentley from obscurity and tells her dramatic life story.
